Our Team

Michael Johnson is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Road Safety Services. Since inception, he has led the company's growth into a scaled, multi-state platform through a combination of disciplined acquisitions and organic expansion.

Prior to founding RSS, Mr. Johnson held CFO, COO, and President roles across multiple private equity-backed businesses in the infrastructure and utility services sectors.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and served as a machine gunner in the United States Marine Corps.

Scott Roberts joined Road Safety Services as Chief Financial Officer in 2022, where he leads the corporate finance, treasury management, and risk management functions. Prior to joining RSS, Mr. Roberts held CFO and Senior Vice President roles with various public, private, non-profit, and private equity-sponsored businesses across industries such as public education, corporate relocation, technology services, entertainment, and banking.

Mr. Roberts is a CPA (inactive registrant) and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Travis Mullen has served as Chief Operating Officer of Road Safety Services since 2023. Prior to joining RSS, Mr. Mullen was the President of Mullen's Markings, which RSS acquired in 2018.

Mr. Mullen began his career in the striping industry at the age of 15 and founded Mullen's Markings in 2003, which he has grown into one of the largest pavement striping companies in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Jeff Zakrzewski serves as CTO of Road Safety Services, leading enterprise technology strategy, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and AI-driven innovation.

A business-minded tech and data leader with more than 25+ years of experience in startups and in growth-oriented, private equity-backed companies, Jeff partners closely with executive teams, sponsors and customers to modernize platforms, scale operations, and drive measurable enterprise value.

Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Business Management from Doane University.

Paul Newell joined Road Safety Services as the Vice President of Corporate Development in 2024, where he currently focuses on acquisitions and other market expansion initiatives. Prior to joining RSS, Paul served on the investments team at an infrastructure-focused private equity fund and as an analyst at a global investment bank.

Mr. Newell graduated with Special Distinction from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering.

Tom Fredrickson serves as the Vice President of Human Resources where he concentrates on organizational growth, M&A integration, employee engagement, performance improvement, employee training and development. Tom brings over 25 years of experience in various private equity partnered organizations in the infrastructure space.

Tom holds bachelor's degrees in psychology and sociology from Wayne State.

Juan Arvizu has served as the Senior Director of Business Development at Road Safety Services since 2022. In his current role, Mr. Arvizu leads RSS's efforts to build strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders and customers. Prior to joining RSS, Mr. Arvizu held management and supervisory positions at the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Mr. Arvizu is an active leader in the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), where he has served as chairman and continues to contribute as a board member. Mr. Arvizu is a veteran of the United States Army.

Lee Gregory is the Founder and former CEO of Sir Lines-A-Lot, which was acquired by RSS in 2017.

As an Operating Partner, he supports operational execution, integration, and growth initiatives across the platform, bringing hands-on industry experience and a strong track record of building and scaling businesses.

He previously held leadership roles at Target and H.E.B. and served as a Captain in the U.S. Army.

Lonnie Heibult is the Founder and former CEO of Traffic Solutions, Inc., which was acquired by RSS in 2024.

With over 35 years in traffic control and pavement marking, he provides practical operational insight and supports acquisition integration and growth initiatives across RSS.

Mr. Heibult has built and led multiple successful operations in the sector, with deep expertise in estimating, operations, and market expansion.
